Respect Life Committee Member (Shelley Glanton)

Responding to our Holy Father’s call to build a “Culture of Life”, this committee seeks to provide Pro-Life information, activities and programs to our Parish and the local community.  We work to implement the Pro-Life agenda of the Bishops of the U.S. by:

  • Prayer
  • Education
  • Legislative protection for life
  • Direct services such as Project Rachel, Birthright, etc.

Shower of Love & Spiritual Adoption Program

In October 2002, we began a Spiritual Adoption Program for unborn babies in danger of abortion. We have watched these babies grow and prayed for them and their mothers. The Shower of Love allows us to prepare for the baby’s birth with a Baby Shower. On Mother’s Day weekend, we will collect baby items for distribution to several pregnancy support agencies in our area. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to support this program! Watch the bulletin for suggested items and names of agencies.

Baby Blankets

We are in need of homemade knitted, crocheted, or quilted baby

blankets for newborn babies of St. Barnabas. These are delivered

by volunteers along with a crib medal, and prayer book for the parents. Please let us know when a new baby arrives so that we can deliver a welcome gift.

March for Life

Each January St. Barnabas’ Respect Life Committee organizes a bus trip to the Right To Life March in Washington, D.C. Special Masses are offered for the diocese and for our parish. All are invited to join us for  a spiritually moving experience as we join others from around the country to save the unborn! Look for details in the fall!

Rachel's Vineyard
We offer retreats for the adult men and women victims of abortion. This post-abortive healing ministry is an intense time of spiritual renewal which offers the truthful and, therefore, loving compassion of the Church. Invitation and training are necessary to be on the retreat team. All who have been involved with abortions - mother, father, relatives, doctors, nurses and so forth are invited to the healing retreats. Call Shelley Glanton, for further information.
