Youth Classroom Assistant
This person is responsible for assisting the catechist with classroom control, activities, lessons, and monitoring safety during youth class time and activities. Time commitment: 1-2 hours weekly plus 3 hours of training.
Youth Catechist
This person commits to preparing for and teaching middle or high school youth about our faith from August to May. Catechists must be confirmed and practicing Catholics, attend Mass regularly and engaged in continuing adult religious education. Time commitment: 5 hours/week – preparation and teaching time, 1 hour/month catechists meeting, and 7 hours training.
Confirmation Sponsor/Mentor
This person is a confirmed and practicing Catholic at least 16 years of age or older who is willing to assist the Confirmation candidate in preparing to celebrate the sacrament and stand as a witness for the candidate at the Confirmation Mass. The mentor is only assigned when the chosen sponsor cannot be physically present to the candidate due to distance or other constraints. The mentor is generally not required to stand with the candidate at the Confirmation Mass, though may if asked by the candidate. Time commitment: 3-5 hour retreats with the candidate, 3 hours of training, 1 hour practice and 2-3 hours for the Confirmation Mass.
Youth Ministry – Clerical Assistant
Weekday, one day a week at the volunteers convenience to assist the Youth Minister with filing, mailings, phone reminders, copying, and posting. Sunday – 9:45-10:45 am or 6:00-8:00 pm to keep attendance, monitor classes and various duties to meet the Youth Minister’s needs.
Games Coordinator and Assistant
This volunteer enjoys playing and has a large resource of fun and community team building games appropriate for middle and high school youth. The assistant helps the coordinator with leading the games and substitutes for the coordinator. Time commitment: 3 hours/week preparation and teaching time and 3 hours training.
Refreshment Coordinator and Assistant
The responsibility of the Refreshment Coordinator and his/her assistants are to set up, serve and clean up after refreshments on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Time commitment: 2 hours/week and 3 hours training.
Youth Pop Lunch Team
These volunteers are responsible for planning, organizing and executing simple lunches for the youth. Time commitment: approximately 3-4 hours about every three months and 3 hours training.
Chaperones/Driver
These are parents who are asked to help with monitoring the safety of the youth and driving to and from youth off-site activities. Requirements: Valid driver’s license, active car insurance policy, and 3 hours training.
The Mother Teresa Club/JOG: Justice, Outreach, Growth Assistants
These are middle school youth stewardship programs held during the year and over the summer respectively. Adults who assist the Youth Minister with these programs are responsible for monitoring youth safety, participating in lessons and driving to and from activities. Time commitment: Mother Teresa Club: 2-3 hours/week plus 3 hours training JOG: 5 hours/day 5 consecutive days in July and 3 hours training.
